Are you looking for the best mattress that will stay with you for many years to come? Do you want a mattress that has excited many other people and has helped them get better and healthier sleep? If you answer yes to any of the above, then you are at the right place.

The Tuft and Needle Mattress is crafted from high quality materials and is equally backed by 10-year manufacturer warranty – not that the product is not good, but this is just to give you peace of mind before buying.

It is designed to mimic memory foam with its optimal pressure relief and gives you a cool sleep all through the night, unlike latex. With a universal comfort weaved into the mattress, it will distribute your body weight evenly so that you have peaceful night sleep.

Benefits of The Tuft & Needle Mattress

Unlike the conventional mattresses you are used to, the Tuft & Needle mattress is a new product on the block with amazing features. It does not feel too soft or too hard and it feels more well balanced than most other mattress out there.

The Tuft and Needle mattress makes it easy to get in and out of bed. A mechanism developed into it also ensures that you and your partner’s movements do not disturb each other. Moreover, it has bounce for night activities as well.

This mattress is famous for providing adequate support for the back and neck. It does not create pressure points and it would not cause you to develop an unevenly bent spine. Because it is able to distribute your bodily weight across pressure points, smooth and sound sleep is inevitable. Imagine sleeping with nice, cozy feeling – even when your partner is not around – that could be the reward for buying a Tuft and Needle mattress.

The Tuft and Needle pays for its cost. According to many users, this bed is well designed and offered exactly the value of its cost. Most people have also reported that their back pain is gone after they started using this bed.

The Tuft & Needle mattress molds and contours to your body, which would lead to a pressure-point-free and cloud-like sensation. Although, the Tuft & Needle mattress is not the only bed that offers these benefits, it still performs better than the average mattress.

It is easy to move the Tuft & Needle from one place to another. Unlike the average mattress, it is firmer and thus performs better when it comes to moving.

It performs significantly better when it comes to motion isolation. This is great if you are going to use this bed with another person. This mattress will prevent movements by your companion from disturbing you so that you can have a nice and undisturbed sleep. In addition, the retention of heat in this bed is less than 5%. That means you can sleep cool all through the night.

If you are a back sleeper, this product could provide a lot of support for you. It is ideal for you if you want above average firmness and support. It is also well-suited for stomach sleepers, although it might be too firm if you are a lighter person. Unfortunately it may not be for all customers. Most people who have bought it as side sleepers have complained of some discomfort.

The Tuft & Needle Difference

COST

Most mattresses in retail store have been marked up 6 – 12 times by the time they are sold. You are paying a lot of money for gimmicks, retail markups, sales commissions and wholesaler’s profits.

Tuft & Needle manufacturers their mattresses for direct sale to customers, cutting out middlemen and offering a cost savings to you.

Materials

No Latex is used in the Tuft & Needle mattress. Latex pushes back the more you put pressure on it, causing painful pressure points.

They do not use memory foam because it has no bounce. It also traps heat.

Tuft & Needle developed T&N Adaptive™ Foam for use in their mattress. It was created using customer feedback ad offers a gradient of support. The more pressure you apply, the more it adapts to support you.

Layers

The Tuft & Needle mattress only uses 2 layers. Mattresses with lots of layers trap heat and don’t have good airflow.

Construction and Materials

tuft & needle mattress review

This mattress is made of 2 layers of high-density, high-quality polyurethane foam. The bottom support layer is 7 inches and helps keep your spine and neck properly aligned.  The top comfort layer is 3 inches of Tuft & Needle Adaptive Foam. This proprietary foam, unique to T & N provides pressure relief and support without feeling like you’re sinking in and getting trapped. It is infused with a cooling gel and graphite to help keep you cool.

The foams are synthetic petroleum-based foams that have undergone rigorous certification by a third party organization called CertiPUR-US. They have certified the foam to be free of known harmful chemicals and carcinogens, PBDEs, heavy metals, phthalates, and formaldehyde.

The two foam layers are glued together by a rubber and water mixture, that has been certified by Green Guard for safety concerns. The glue layer is similar to the glue used in shoes and does not come into contact with the skin.

The mattress cover has been tested and certified by OEKO-TEX to be free from chemical residues, phthalates, and heavy metals. It is made from a high-performance tactel fabric which is a soft, breathable blend of rayon and polyester.

The Tuft & Needle mattress also includes a chemical-free, TB-117 compliant fabric fire barrier. The fabric fits around the mattress like a sock and is located under the cover. The fire barrier fabric is comprised of a blend of mostly rayon, with small amounts of polyester and fine-grained silica. The silica is inserted into the fiber and does not make contact with the skin.

How is it different from Memory Foam?

Memory foam mattresses work by slowly melting around your body. When you turn over or move around, it takes a moment for the surface to recover and form a new body impression.

The Tuft & Needle mattress has a more responsive surface. When you lay down, the mattress feels as it will throughout the night. When you turn over or move, the surface recovers right away. The foam in the Tuft & Needle mattress has the comfort of memory foam, without the “memory”. It feels great, but it doesn’t trap you in. It is more supportive than memory foam and is typically better for your back.

The Tuft & Needle mattress offer a little more bounce than a memory foam mattress, this helps you get in and out of bed much easier. Sitting on the mattress for long periods will not affect the mattress. If you ever feel like your mattress is sinking, the warranty guarantees against visible compression beyond 3/4″. These types of compression should not occur within 10 years unless there is a manufacturing defect.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a mattress with high quality material and a superb performance, this Tuft and Needle mattress is for you. Even if you are used to sleeping on a spring mattress, you may not be excited at the prospect of a memory foam mattress, but the health benefits are much more than you are used to. Moreover, most people who moved from a regular spring mattress to a foam mattress find it difficult to go back because of the comfort that adjust to.

Comparison

As a shopper, having the ability to enjoy options of a variety of products before choosing the one leads to a more economical decision. We will show you all that you need in a product relative to others and provide a quick preview. This will enable you to make an informed decision at the end of the day.

One of the products you can look at is the Lucid 10” Memory foam mattress. It is cheaper, and it is available in king, and queen versions. You can also buy the twin mattress – all giving you a wider option to choose from.

Another model you want to look for is the Helix Sleep Mattress. Although it enables you to customize your mattress based on how you sleep (side, stomach, back), you can also customize according to how firm you want the mattress to be, your height, and weight. However, it will set you back $200 more than if you go with the Tuft & Needle mattress.

The Tuft & Needle on the other hand provides all the important support you may need because its firmness is uniform. It also comes with a 30-day trial so that if you do not like it after trying it out for a month, you can return it and your money will be refunded.

Andrea, my husband and I have a latex mattress that we bought 3 years ago to replace a sleep number bed. I am always looking for something to buy when we need to replace our current bed. Ours came with 3 layers on each side of the bed that were customized to fit our preferences for firmness and the way we sleep. You say that the mattress you reviewed doesn’t have many of the chemicals that others have. One of my biggest concerns with a mattress purchase is allergies to the materials in the mattress. And I want to see if you have recommendations for pillows on your site as well. I have a lot of trouble finding a pillow that holds my head firmly as a side sleeper with no neck pain. I love your website and will be checking it again. Organic is the only way to go for something as important as bedding.

Thanks for stopping in Sue. A customized mattress is nice. The Helix Sleep mattress on Amazon is a customizable mattress that is comparable to the Tuft and Needle.

I have not written about pillows yet, but I plan on it. I too have a hard time finding pillows that work for me.

Organic bedding really is important, because our bodies heal as we sleep, and we don’t need a toxic load during a time of repair 🙂

I really wanted to change my mattress and this review is really appealing to me as I do not like spring mattresses and want something simple and not way too cozy so that I would not feel lazy while waking up in the morning but cozy enough to make me feel rested and relaxed when I wake up in the morning.
Is this the right matress for me?

This mattress is quite firm. If you are a back or stomach sleeper, it is a great mattress. If you are a side sleeper, you may find this bed to be too hard.
