They are meant for low to medium traffic areas, and are perfect for living rooms and dining halls. Jute rugs are inexpensive, non-toxic and are environmentally friendly because jute does not require pesticides or fertilizers to grow.

When I read up to the sea grass, it’s the first water resistant rug you mentioned and I began thinking that there’s a rug that’s water and fire resistant. Never mind that. I guess that other rugs are fire resistant because they are potent humid absorbers. Personally I prefer just having my bathroom with rugs so the sea grass version version is still my pick. Sisal sounds nice but too bad my baby daughter is still in her diapers. I would prefer to get her something soft and not easily stained. Jute sounds better because it’s soft but I am not sure if a diaper blowout will ruin it. What do you think?
I would go with the seagrass rug. Jute picks up stains easily, so it is not a good option with kids running around. Seagrass is stain resistant and it feels good on bare feet.
I have been looking into different rugs for my home because I am sick of my big ol’ fluffy rug that always gets wrinkled and looks bad after there’s been a lot of foot traffic. It also collects my dog’s hair like crazy. I like the idea of the sea grass rug. Does pet hair clean up easily on it? Also do these rugs work on carpet or is it mainly for hard floors?
Hi Kelli, a seagrass rug is super easy to clean, just sweep or vacuum, the pet hair will not stick to it like a fluffy rug. You can put seagrass rugs on carpets, but I personally think they look better on a hard floor.
