There’s no doubt that a slow, masticating juicer is the best juicer for high juice yield. They’re very easy to use and cleaning is a breeze. I have used centrifugal juicers and they simply don’t compare to a masticating juicer.
Benefits of juicing
Easy way to get nutrients
Juicing supports the consumption of nutrients. Some of us do not get enough of the required nutrients on a daily basis. People who add juicing to their lifestyle tend to also consume different fruits and vegetables than they would normally eat whole. This is great for adding different nutrients you would otherwise not get. Not only that, juicing will increase the absorption of a variety of enzymes and vitamins we need.
Tip:
Worried you are not getting the benefits of whole foods? Add some of the extracted pulp to your juice to be sure to get the fiber that comes with eating whole foods.
Masticating Juicer compared to a Centrifugal Juicer
A slow juicer is also known as a “Masticating Juicer”. Masticate means to chew or grind up. The centrifugal model is different because it spins at a very high speed, grating the food into a pulp, while the juice moves away from the center, collected into the outside basket.
Masticating juicers have a better mechanical design to extract more juice without harming the delicate enzymatic makeup of the food. Lets look at what makes a masticating juicer better.
- Better taste: Great tasting juice keeps you motivated to stick to our routine. If you look through the endless reviews and articles on juicing, you will notice a common trend. Many people find masticating juicers provide much better flavoured.
- The slower machines can handle leafy greens: To get the most out of the nutritional benefits of juicing, you will want to include leafy greens into the mix. Masticating juicers can press the juice from the delicate leaves of spinach and wheat grass, adding more value to both your machine and health.
- Less oxidation: The masticating juicer slows down the oxidation process, preserving the important enzymes and nutrients found in the food. This gives the juice a more natural taste and a higher nutritional value overall. Less oxidation also mean you can store your juice in the refrigerator up to 72 hours.
- Masticating juicers produce dryer pulp and more juice: Because it works slowly, kneading and grinding the juice from the pulp, the result is a much higher yield of juice. You will notice this right away if you have switched from a centrifugal machine to a masticating machine.
- Easy to care for and clean: A very important difference between a masticating juicer and centrifugal, because people get discouraged to juice if their machines are difficult to clean and care for. Masticating juicers use gears rather than a basket making cleanup a breeze.
- Very quiet: If you are like me and really do not like the loud sounds a blender or centrifugal juicer makes, you will love how quiet a slow juicer is. Their mechanics make it a fairly noise free machine.

Versatility Of the Omega J8003 Juicer
You can do more than just juice fruits and veggies. The Omega J8003 can makes nut butters, it will chop and minces food the same as a food processor, and with its pasta nozzle make fresh linguini.
Example of how much juice you can extract
- 4 large Carrots
- 1 Apple
- 1 Celery stick
Just this small amount of vegetables gave me a cup and a half of pulp and foam free juice. A high speed centrifugal juicer will only give you about half this amount.
Cleaning your Juicer
The Omega J8003 Juicer is so easy to clean because it comes apart in 4 parts. Simply hand wash them and dry. It is important to keep your juicer clean to avoid any build up or bacteria from forming. The fact that this juicer is so easy to clean will help prolong the lifespan of the product.
The whole process from the start of your juicing to cleaning up is about 15 minutes, time well spent for fresh juice. It’s fun to try new fruits and vegetables in the machine, so far I have not found anything it doesn’t handle, including small leafy greens, hard beets and carrots.
What you can do with the left over pulp
You end up with a lot of pulp depending on what you are juicing. There are a few different ways to still use this pulp so it doesn’t go to waste.
- Make soup stock: I have added my left over vegetable pulp to my soup stocks. The result is wonderfully flavoured stock.
- Add to your baking: If you enjoy baking, you can freeze some of your pulp or use it fresh to add to your baking. I enjoy carrot pulp for muffins and apple pulp for some pies. There are endless recipes to add your left over pulp to.
- Make homemade dog food: You can add your pulp to bulk up your homemade dog foods. It is important to be sure you are adding all the nutrients they need, so be sure you still follow a recipe.
- Great compost: All your left over pulp is great for composting. Use it to make soil and add to the garden.
Conclusion
I absolutely love the Omega J8003 Slow Juicer. It is a nice quiet machine that provides me with all the juice that I need. It takes about 5 minutes to get a full batch (about 2 cups) of my daily juice. If you want to make a bigger batch, simply refrigerate your juice as it can be stored up to 72 hours without degradation.
The Omega J8003 is so versatile, giving you many options, including food processing, making nut butters, baby foods and even fresh pasta. I keep my machine on the counter because I use it so much.
After a long time researching, I chose to buy the Omega J8003 Model. I save money with this model and still get the same amazing capabilities that the newer models all share. I use my machine everyday because it’s so easy to clean and use. When I have company I love making them fresh juice and showing off how great this machine is. I know for a fact I will not go back to the centrifugal type juicer after using the Omega J8003 Juicer.

Thank you for this very interesting information. I have never heard of a masticating juicer, but the way you explained it about, chew, grind and kneading compared to the high speed pulp results, really makes sense in regards to the texture and taste of the food.
I like how you give the different versions of the machines so people can choice what would be best for them.
I will pass this along to others that are interested in this type of juicer.
Thanks,
Angela

Hi Angela,
You are very welcome. Not many people know about masticating style juicers. I honestly believe they will replace the older centrifugal models. They simply are better at juice extraction and quality of juice produced. I love my masticating juicer. I use it everyday. I love carrot and apple juice mixed together.
Thanks for sharing:)
